Gender Equality
The topic my group and i are focusing on is gender equality within the school uniforms. We want everyone who attends Hornby high school to feel comfortable with themselves and others. We focused mainly on the labels that are given to the school uniforms eg: boys uniform and girls uniform. Our group would like to remove these labels and simply call it the Hornby high school uniform. Our Presentation

Today i am really focusing on my pbl and i am trying to work towards our end product.Because i focused we came up with our main topic which is the idea of taking away the gender labelling on our school uniforms and to simply identify it as the Hornby High School uniform.The enablers are that we worked in a quiet atmosphere which made me really concentrate.The barriers are that i have been away for a week and i missed a lot of decisions that were made, but my group informed me and made me understand the concept more.I might have to do some more of the pbl work at home, because i was absent and i think that i'm quite behind.

I am absent from school today because i am sick, but i am doing some work at home.Because i was away i missed it when Lavisha and Iris got in contact with Miss Aitken to discuss our point.The enablers are that i know when i come back to school the girls will tell be what happened.The barriers are that it is quite difficult to work from home by myself and be on the same page as the girls at the same time.Iris and Lavisha told me that they decided we need to go and speak to Mr Sutton about our idea.

I am back at school and today i am catching up with the girls on what i missed. I have been told our plan and i am now transferring my personal logs on to my blog.The enablers are that my whole group was in class this morning so they told me there ideas and i'm getting back on track.The barriers are that my group isn't going to be here for the rest of the day because they are going on the music tour.I am going to catch up on the stuff we have to do individually while they're away.

I am absent from school today again so i'm writing this from home, but i'm just going over our group work to make sure we have everything in order. We have to be prepared for our presentation tomorrow.The enabler is that I finally remembered how my blog works, i'm almost finished getting my logs published.The barrier is that im not sure what i have missed or need to do because i cant contact my group. I feel bad for the rest of my group because i have been sick a lot recently,but i hope they understand because i'm trying my best to catch up.

Conclusion
In conclusion i really enjoyed having the freedom to be able to pick my topic during project based learning, however i found the planning quite confusing and i think it could be set out better so it would be easier to understand. I was really happy with our group and i think we worked great together and we all did our part.

Explain what your group did for your PBL, what was and was not successful, and why ?
We wanted to change the labels on the school uniform so it wasn't specifically for boys or girls, I We don't really know if we were successful or not yet because the meeting about our topic with the board of trustees isn't until next year.
Explain whether your group achieved your goals and why or why not ? We achieved our goal of creating a presentation about our topic. Our group now have to leave our idea with the board of trustees and it will be up to them to decide. However our group is really happy of what we achieved and we are quite confident with our plan.
Describe and explain the impact your PBL had on enriching or improving the lives of others ?
We hope that if our idea goes to plan that it will make more people feel comfortable within themselves and in their own skin. For example if you are a female student you are genuinely expected to wear a skirt because shorts are listed under the "boys" category, when really shorts were made for both genders and girls shouldn't feel bad for wearing them even if that is at school.
Explain what you would do differently next time and why? Our group worked well together however i was absent for most of this unit so i would like to have been more involved, but that is hard to do when you have been sick for 2 weeks. I also wish our group had come up with an idea sooner so we would have had more time to write our blogs.
Describe what you thought about doing PBL? I enjoyed having the freedom to pick what i wanted to do. I feel as though i didn't have enough time to finish everything to the standard i wold have liked. Overall i enjoyed working in a group, when we were all together.
Explain how you felt about working in your group? I was really happy with the group i got put into. We got along really well and we all wanted to same end product which was to make somebody's life better. Although we had different opinions on some things in the end we decided on one idea.
Explain what you learnt about yourself through this process? I learnt that it is better to take the time to plan then get straight into it. I also found out that i don't work well under pressure (which isn't a surprise). I was also very passionate about our topic and i was glad when the other girls felt the same way about the idea.
Explain what you could have done better? I would have taken more time to read through everything more carefully. If i did this topic again i think i would also try and get more done at home. Next time i would ask more questions so i fully understand.

It is my last day of school today and sadly i was away last week when the presentation happened but my group told me it went great. I am really happy that our plan went well but i just wish we had a little more time working on our blogs. I think our group worked together fantastically and we all did our part.

i really liked the fact that even though you weren't here most of the time you still put all that aside and managed to finish your project
